Hey, just checking in...congrats on the 2 yr anniversary. My mom's husband had a double lung transplant a year ago. That's actually why I was searching online for various blogs for "community" purposes we're looking for a group to join for the online support and encouragment for people dealing with lung transplants...any ideas?

check out my step-dad's blog:

www.martysnewlungs.blogspot.com

(I think that's his link, if not, I have it on my blog, I always get his confused for some reason...)

Great blog, very encouraging to read..

You beautiful, beautiful person. I'm trying to control my fear right now as my health faces new obstacles, and to find out that you've gotten to the point of losing both lungs, and hanging on for so long afterward, -and- not allowing it to keep you from living your life, is beyond inspirational.

It does a lot to keep my perspective healthy.

I just came across your website, and I would like to express my sympathy for all that you are going through.

I have Wegener's Granulomatosis, which is a form of vasculitis. I was a graduate student when I got sick, and I was only making $16,000 per year. I was hospitalized more than a year ago, and I'm still about $10,000 in debt, and that is after paying almost half of my monthly income on prescriptions after the 1,300 prescription budget from health insurance ran out.

I think my situation is actually pretty good compared to a lot of people. I met someone in a support group, and the only treatment that her condition has responded to was Remicade, but since it costs around $15,000 per treatment and is not approved to treat her condition, the insurance company refused to pay. Now not only can she not get a medically necessary treatment, but she is being sued by the hospital for about $50,000 for the few treatments she was able to get before the insurance cut her off.

It really seems like bankruptcy is the only option for people who get sick these days.

Did you see the Bunk study stating 2/3 of doctors in America want National Health Care. The doctors who did this study also conducted one in 2002 and found that the majority of doctors did not want national health care, the problem with this is that the 2 question surveys drastically differ in there 2nd question. I found this article, 60% of Physicians Surveyed Oppose Switching to a National Health Care Plan, It's worth a read.
