Biopsy Time Set

The biopsy is scheduled for noon on Thursday and should take about an hour. I’ll e-mail a quick post from my mobile phone as soon as the surgery is complete. If all goes as planned, the doctor may even be able to tell us what he saw inside Jim’s lungs with his thorascope.

New Biopsy Date

Looks like the biopsy is scheduled for Thursday 9-1, not Friday as I posted earlier. This little blog is coming in handy.

Open Lung Biopsy

I swiped this from Jim’s Wiki and he in turn swiped it from the University of Pittsburg Medical Center website. If x-ray or CT scans have detected abnormalities on your lungs, it may be necessary for your physician to perform an open lung biopsy to further investigate the area. X-rays and CT scans provide detailed [...]

Tentative Biopsy Schedule

Jim has an tentative date with his surgeon on Friday 9-2 at Brotman Medical Center in Culver City. His surgeon thinks he’ll be in the hospital for a couple of days. And then it is off to Newport Beach for some recuperation with his dad and me over the Labor Day weekend. You can learn [...]

Remembering Kathy

This is Jim looking especially adorable with his mom. They were at the hospital in New York because Jim’s baby sister Kristen was on her way. Jim lost his mom nine years ago today.

The Heroes

Jim posted about The Cancer Debt last night.

Still No Date for the Biopsy

Jim saw his doctor today and he confirmed that they were going to go ahead with the biopsy. Now Jim will meet with the surgeon on Thursday and set the date for the biopsy then. The surgeon is somehow affiliated with UCLA Medical Center. Up until today I had assumed that the biopsy would happen [...]

The Jim Gilliams

These are the Jim Gilliams circa 1980. This blog is about the littlest Jim Gilliam who is now the tallest Jim Gilliam. Whenever I talk about Jim I mean the little guy in this picture who is now 27 and 6’9″.

Help Keep Jim Alive

Jim has started a Wiki about his health problems, so if you have any medical info to contribute please visit his Wiki. What’s a Wiki you ask? WiKi is an abbreviation for “What I Know Is”. It is a concept that is widely used in collaborative networks. A Wiki is a website (or other hypertext [...]

Dinner with Jim

Jim treated us to an amazing seafood dinner last night in Santa Monica, so we had a chance to catch up and talk about his treatment. The doctor will set a date for the biopsy on Monday and go over the details of the surgery with Jim. After the biopsy we plan to bring Jim [...]

Jims Story

I swiped this from Jim’s blog jimgilliam.com. He does a much better job of explaining his illness than I ever could. When the cure becomes the disease August 2, 2005 02:01 AM For the last couple of years I’ve had problems breathing. It’s been overshadowed by other health problems, and has even appeared to go [...]
