Pills

These are Jim’s pills for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Just the Normal Stuff

Jim ate a little snack of whole wheat pasta salad with artichoke and broccoli and feta. Then later on he had a salad with chicken and blueberries and almonds and various other goodies. He also had a piece of RGB (really good bread). He is eating very small portions, but it is so nice to [...]

Jim is Home and Feeling Well

Dailymotion blogged video Jim and his dad busted through the front door and walked to his room so fast I did not have time to turn on the camera. I captured this video of him just as he rounded the corner and jumped in bed.

The Photo of the Meds

This is Jim’s dad on the phone with the pharmacy moments after returning home. He discovered that med number 14 was missing. Can you believe all these meds? Jim needed to take one of them right away, so his dad’s first priority upon arriving home was sorting all of them and making sure they are [...]

The Longest Walk

Jim’s dad just called to tell me to unlock the front door because Jim wants to try to walk from the car to the front door without oxygen. This will be the longest distance Jim has walked without oxygen since before he had his lung biopsy 18 months ago. I am going to go get [...]

Stuck in Crazy Traffic

Huge traffic jam on the 405 South bound between the 105 and the 710. Average speed of 8mph and a 112 minute delay. They are trying to get off the freeway now. Poor Jims.

In the Car on His Way Home

Jim’s dad just e-mailed over this photo of Jim in the car on the way home. I am running around grocery shopping, making his bed and cooking dinner. I raced home from work to be here in time, but I still can’t quite believe he is coming home. The condo is so quiet without the [...]

Checking Out of Hotel California

Jim is preparing to leave UCLA medical center. Tina went over all of Jim’s meds – a shopping bag full of them.  There were a few med changes today so we need to wait for a delivery from the pharmacy.  Jim had his PICC line removed (the line they give Jim the IVs through).  They [...]

Jim is Going Home Today

Yeah!  Dr. Ross said Jim could go home today.  We are waiting for Tina, transplant coordinator, to give us instructions on the meds.  Not sure how long the entire process will take.  What a month February has been.  The transplant occurred on the 1st and the hospital release is on the 28th.

Jim eating some snacks

Jim is trying to increase his caloric intake with some snacks.  He is doing better than a few hours ago.  The big bottle of IVIG will be given in a little while.

Jim Tired Today

Jim has been more tired today than recently.  We think it might be because of the meds of last evening which have taken away some of his appetite.  Just now, Jim is having some chicken soup with lots of chicken from Jerry’s in Westwood which Ramin brought.  Earlier Heidi brought a selection of bakery goods. [...]

Drip, Drip, Drip

Jim already got his simulect and is now getting his first day of IVIG.  He just ate some orange chicken from Mr. Noodle.  Still on only 0.5 liters of oxygen.  His oxygen saturation is 99%, his heart rate is 70, and his blood pressure is 129 / 85.  He is feeling great and plans on [...]

Chest Tube Removed

Jim’s only chest tube was removed a few minutes ago. The first picture shows Jim’s clam incision which looks like a work of art to me. The second picture is Jim using his breathing exercise device which measures how much he inhales. He has been able to inhale 750 cc (3/4 of a litter). Long [...]

Biopsy Results

Dr Ross reported that the biopsy results were “pretty good”. After explaining lots of good things in the biopsy, Dr. Ross said there was some signs of blood vessel swelling. He said there were a number of options in dealing with this, including doing nothing at all. The concern is whether this indicates a potential [...]

Release Today Not

Tina, transplant coordinator, just let us know that Jim will not be released today.  They still plan on taking out the chest tube this afternoon.  Our meds class has been reschedule to tomorrow at 1pm.  By then, we should have the results of the biopsy as well.
